A business chronicler, best known for his Money-Go-Round column in the Philippine Star and, before that, Cocktales in the Philippine Daily Inquirer
A Journalist throughout most of his professional life, he stumbled into newspapering when he applied for a proofreading job to support himself through college, working on his AB Sociology degree at the University of Santo Tomas.
In 1984, his reporting during the difficult Marcos years earned him and Alfred Friendly Fellowship at the Boston Globe.
His overseas experience includes covering the High Court in Hongkong in 1988-89 for the Hongkong Standard.
He took a sabbatical from newspapering for three years, in 1995-1997, to join the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas as assistant to the chairman of the Monetary Board.
He is also a founding minority shareholder of the Inquirer and a community cable company in Nueva Ecija.
